I gave up on making them - it's nearly impossible to get them to a finished point that I would feel comfortable selling to people - I have several sets that need finishing if you want a set for free. The set I did finish (for my car) took nearly 3 hours per bar. And I could still spend more time on them!

Is it the polishing that is taking all the time? You've seen my car, the word shiny isn't even in my vocabulary! I'll be out your way on Saturday, maybe I can stop by if you'll be around.

Smoothing/polishing yes.

Going from regular stock Al - 60/120/180/260/350/450/600/800/1000/1200 grit last being wet sand then polish. It's the only way I could get a nice enough finish.

Polishing itself only take a short time compared to all the sanding.
