Title: Gas Heater
Post by: pockets on September 08, 2006, 08:10:47 AM
I have purchased a gas heater, one that mounts in front of the driver.  Does anyone have pictures of what it looks like all hooked up and how it should be wired. It is to be mounted into a 1968 bug.  The correct holes are cut into the body, but I do not know how it should look. or where the fuel line should tap into the gas tank.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

The best fitting heater for your car is a B2.  Is that what you have?

The original method of connecting it to the fuel supply was to cut a hole in the left rear top of the tank and mount the gas heater pickup.  However, the hoses that are fixed to the stock pickup are rarely any good.  Plus cutting the hole is a bit of work.  My recommendation is to drill a hole in the body between the tank and inner fender and pass a hose down under the tank.  Then connect it up with a Tee to the main engine feed hose.  That is how Supers got the fuel for their heaters.

We can get you a reprint of the FACTORY installation instructions, and I can probably find you a free reprint of the FACTORY service manual. Give me a call or see me at AirSpeed.
