Dave Cosgrave crashed this beautiful Pauter motor'd bug at the top end of the track on a winning run yesterday (125MPH?) at the Super Shifter race in Bremerton. Flat spun into the wall followed by three barrel rolls ending on the roof. Dave is OK but I'm sure he is heartbroken as the car is apparently destroyed. I was not there but I will post any info as I recieve any news. (same track where I rolled two years ago) Wayne

Sorry to hear the news..Dave has thousands of passes on that car, he'll be back.

That car was near retirement, a new RLR chassis is currently under way...
I'm going to give Dave a shout this morning and see how he is.
-
Ask him if his roll bar from this car is for sale. I'm intrested.

Couple shots I had of Daves Car at a super shifter event

Just so long as he's okay anything else is rebuildable. It looks from the photos that the rear end didn't take too much of a hit. Drivetrain may be usable in the new chassis. (trying to see the bright side)

Tis Tis ..No... James said he had a RLR chassis nearing completion, so I'm sure the thought had crossed Daves mind of parting out what is left to recoupe some costs. So if Dave allready had thoughts of what to do, I am intrested in the roll bar.
OK so maybe I should have asked in 3 more days.

:( Thats to bad, good luck with the rebuild glad to hear he is alright

James
I think his previous run at 10.35 at 127.5 mph puts him in number one race spot on the top10 doesn't it??(1582 lbs) wayne
-
Yes it would - better than dan by a tad, once I get Dave on the phone I will get all the particulars - what did you run?
-
Dave Cosgrave was up against Brian Seaberg of Belfair Washington. Dave won the race with a .057 reaction time and a 10.58 run on a 10.39 dial in at 114 miles per hour. Dave got through the traps but went into a flat spot spin. Heading backwards down the track, the back end of his car hit the cement barrier causing his car to flip in the air at least 10 feet off the ground and spinning 4 times in the air. The car landed on its roof with Dave hanging up side down waiting for help. Before the car could be reset on what was left of the wheels, Dave released his belts and climbed out after hearing that there were hot fluids dripping at the back of the car. Dave was okay but his car was a complete wreck. His words before being loaded into the ambulance were

no shit !!! kinda reminds me when bob glidden crashed early in his career, after the car settled he stumbled out , took off his jacket, and covered up the dominators !! reason being he didn't want anyone to see he was splitting the dominators !!!! hope dave is ok

There's just something about re-using a very well used roll bar that doesn't set quite right with me.
glad Dave is OK.

You're thinking about Dean Lowrey's Super, right Tom?

I was thinking the same, kind of like using a used helmet.

not that specific car but it does bring up a coincidence. I witnessed both of that car's crashes, and was the 1st on the scene at the last one. It was still upside down and race fuel was pouring out of the tank vent.............. and the driver was a bit disoriented and still in the car. Not a good scenario.
and, yes, a beta \"tested\" helmet has an expired life :o . does a roll bar????????
