Darren,
I know how it feels to be stranded....And this is why I am part of this community, It is because we are all friends, and for me that is what friends do. Thanks for the compliments Silas and Russ...
The fun part was trying to explain this whole puzzle to the border .... we could have used a diagram to who owned what...
Kinda reminded me of the who's on first routine.

That's the only reason I've stayed into VW's as long as I have... the kindness of others. It's also helped me see how I need to treat people also.

It's good to see that there is still good people out there.

That is so awesome that you were able to do this Shane, I spoke to Lanny at about 5:30 and he was drained. Still in unbelievably good spirits but drained. I think if I had of been in his shoes there may have been a report of a burning Dodge truck on I-5 at some point.

A total week from Hell for Lanny but he pulled it off and WORKED his butt off the entire time down in LA.     ( we almost had to rip the rags out of his hands to get him to stop cleaning the car sometimes) WAY TO GO LANNY!  Now go get about a week of sleep! :)

Here's the sequence of events.
Leave Vancouver on tuesday morning. RR 24\" tire blow out in Seattle. Police escort off highway. New 24\" tire. Off to Portland, new tire goes flat in downtown Portland. Install spare.  Drop off wife and child. OK. Off to LA. Southern Oregon, the first diff cooks. Overnight at the local motel. Tow the truck AND the trailer to the dealership in Roseburg. Rent the infamous F 450 farm vehicle to finish the treck. No problem.  1700 miles at 60 MPH. Vinyl seat and a radio. OK. After the Classic week..very busy, back up to Roseburg to pick up the Dodge. Rebuilt diff under warranty, return the F450. OK. 150 miles later, rebuilt diff packs it in just south of Portland. Colorful tow truck driver hauls Dodge to the Wilsonville dealership. Back to the rest stop to pick up the trailer, now 2 AM. 1.5 hours to hook it up all Macgyver like. Two days in Portland waiting for the truck to be repaired again. This time a brand new diff. Great. 70 miles later, poof goes the new diff.  Now, wife and child in tow, stuck in Centralia, Washington with very few options. Four hours later we hear the roar of two F350's..Pointblank to the rescue! Off to the border, boy were the border officers confused. Finally home at 2 AM this morning. Thanks again Shane.

Wow what a trip for you, Shane comes through again. Shane your heart for helping people is amazing.  You are such an asset to us all involved in vw's.

I think I would demand a new complete rear end, not just a diff and carier.  Obviously something is not right in the housing, or the dealership didn't crush the new bearing properly installing the new diffs.

Hey Lanny,

I thought I told you to have a \" safe and un-eventful\" trip back ?????

Happy to hear you eventually made it across the border.

It was great meeting the Canadian crew, you guys are a quality group!

Hope to see you in August if the schedule permits.

Lanny, thats some hardcore dedication right there. Last year I drove down and right back up here to hit Bug In 32, that was enough for me I was spent. :D

Shane. The stories I hear about the giving you do for others amazes me. I am sure we do not know a tenth of what Shane actually gives freely of himself. You are a good man sir.
