Howdy,
I have a sandblaster in my shop, but instead of silica sand it has recycled glass. Can I use this to clean and blast the baked on black tar/sludge on the heads (1500cc heads for '66 bus)? I have removed the valves and springs, and have soaked them and wire brushed them in solvent already. Is it OK to clean the combustion chamber too? I was thinking I would just duct tape over the exposed studs so I don't damage the threads.
Please let me know what you think!

Can't see why it wouldn't work, try to avoid hitting the sealing surface around the edge of the combustion chamber too much and go easy on the seats.
It's going to make your heads dull white instead of silver like glass bead would. Best to start with low pressure and turn it up until it just starts to clean em.

OK cool, maybe what I will do is hit them first with my blaster, remove most of the junk, then take them next door to the auto teacher's shop. He has glass bead in his cabinet, but don't want to use his right away as I don't want to mess up his media too much. I will try to stay away from the sealing surfaces too.
