Congrats ! That's very quick for such a heavy car. You must be making some power. I think you're only a 1/10th from needing a roll bar unless of course you already have one??? Way to go! wayne

Noooooo!!!! you can't do that.  I feel your pain though.  Life is too busy I agree.  Just keep plugging away at it.  Don't make it perfect, just throw it together and get it on the track.  This is what I'm doing, it is amazing how quick things go together when it doesn't have to be show quality.  You'll be surprised how much your drive to get it done is once you see that all you need is to put a seat and a motor in, screw on some lexan over the windows and you can make the GC in style...everyone will be looking at that fast piece... who cares if you didn't use stainless steel braided lines, or missed a few dents on the dash.  If you pull a wheelstanding 12....AWSOME....Get it done.  Leave the body and wire wheel it for that rusto look.  Ohya don't forget the roll cage, I'd hate to see you on the roof spinning like a top at the 1/8 mile marker.

Here is your inspiration AGAIN!!!!!!!

Kevin

i'm sorry don't do a half ass job take your time and do it right once not twice.

it takes very little extra time to do something correct/safe the first time,it does not need to co$t alot to make thing neet and tiddy or clean and finnished just a bit extra effort and patience as well as doing it all in the right order.

I agree. If you do it half ass you lose even more interest in the car because it isn't what you want. We've seen your ghia, and know your quality of work and neither is half ass. It doesn't need to be a show car, but don't butcher the shit out of it just to drive it.
I've lose interest on the notch project at least twice a year, but I refuse to slap it together. If I ever finish it, it will be done the way it should be done, RIGHT!!

Thanks guys, i dont really know what Ill do with it. Stefan would probably kill me if I sold it as he's got a lot of blood, sweat and tears invested in it as well. So far nothing has been done half-assed and you cant compromise safety. The next will be a cage as soon as I save for the funds to get it done. But I know one thing for sure was that last Friday when your the only Vw racing with a bunch of hondas and your friends are no where in site, it wasnt as much fun as other times.

Big B-I'm always the only one running an aircooled VW out here (thank god Neil is finally ready) so  I know the pain.  All of you, my friends that race, are further west.  I find no greater pleasure racing than having people come up to me and say \"holy shit.  I can't belive a bug runs that quick\" and that's from the V8 guys.  I don't win many races, but seldomly get blown out of the water by anyone with less than 8 cylinders.  I'm sure my view is different than yours, but man o man is it fun to crush guys egos...ha ha...you lost to a beetle!

See.  This is no excuse.  It's one thing to not have a car ready to rock.  If this fella's ride was good to go, he'd be out there...newborn and all...smashing ego's.  Working 17 hrs my a$$.  That's an excuse if I've ever heard one. Post some times and knock me down on the list.  It's great incentive to work harder and try to do better.
