I'm almost at the stage of getting my 68 convert to see the inspector. I know there's been posts in past, but I can't seem to find them. The car came from the u.s., and needs the inspection for me to be able to insure it here in bc. thanks in advance for any info.... anyone, anyone...

thanks for the link, I think I asked the same question then, I more want to know who does the inspections for u.s. originated, canadian bound cars? I'd prefer someone who deals with VW's and a place that other people have gone to and were pleased with.
thanks

i believe it is a standard provincial vehicle inspection. you need - no - MUST have the paper work they gave you at the border to get it insured too.

i took my car (64 beetle purchased in the us) to one of the shops i work at. autobahn imports at 1721 main street in vancouver. i have also seen a 60's ghia pass an inspection there and right now there is a 72 westy in there that needs a bumper, but after that it will pass. the shop repairs mostly '92 and newer imports, but the owner is familiar with older vw's.

i brought a toyota pickup thru a few years back, and had it inspected at the acura dealership in the richmond auto mall. took about an hour, and he passed it. it definitly had some things customized ( seats, lift) but it passed nonetheless.maybe check into whether or not they are still doin them...

my 67 was a salvage and in pretty rough shape... it cost me 750 at duanes in langley for him to pass it. not bad if you knew what all had to be done. he's fair and pretty good. cash only though!
