hey, my car is having troubles. i was able to run it a few times, i just got it on the road. now it wont start and i noticed that the little fuel filter has no fuel in it, even after i turn the engine over and pump the gas. do i need a new fuel pump? how do i check? thanks
-
mechanical or electric pump?
-
im pretty sure its not electric... its a 67, and my official manual says nothing about anything electrical on it
-
one side of the fuel filter goes to the carbs and then the other does it go down to a part on the motor?
-
yes exactly. and it was running earlier today, but really rough when i slowed down, and now that little filter is bone dry
-
well your fuel pump may be pooched, but you may also have debris in the fuel line or tank, is there a fuel filter under the gas tank? There may be a screen in the bottom of the tank but you will have to drain the tank and remove it to clean the screen
-
ok, i'll check to see if there is fuel coming from the tank, if not i'll drain it and clean that. if there is, i should replace the pump?
-
you can disconnect the line going from the gas tank to the pump and see if there is fuel present, if so it may just be a bad pump.
-
ok i'll give that a shot. i'll have to drive over to where it stopped before it gets to dark tonight, figure out if i need to order a pump tommorrow!

dude, your in cloverdale? maybe someday if you have some time off i could pay you to come give it a look... im right at fraser hwy and 188th... pretty close. -if thats something your into
-

whenever you could, 604-616-0015. cause i know its got a few things going on, and im real new to these and want to learn. but i dont have anyone i know to teach!

ok 76BUS... i checked the gas line into the pump, plenty of gas coming in there. i took off the line from the pump to the carb and blew and sucked, trying to do something... no dice. still wouldnt start and if i sucked on the line to the carb, i couldnt get gas. finally i put some gas directly into the carb, and the car started right up. i drove it home, and when i got home i checked, still not much fuel in that lil filter. barely any actually. i tried to start it up again but it wouldnt. is my pump faulty?
thanks
-
I would have to say that you may have a faulty pump and I am sure someone on here has one if not Airspeed can get one!

i'll put one on tommorrow. and i'll let you know what happens. thanks for all your help i appriciate it. anytime you want to come poke around and teach me, i'll buy the beers. ;)
