Title: Finally Found A Split Beetle!
Post by: Geoff on March 20, 2006, 10:37:18 AM: Yup you heard it here first, I finally found the elusive Split beetle in a barn. While out searching the farm fields in WA state Hoosier and I came across a farm with a bunch of old cars and VW's. It was around 6pm and the sun was setting but there was one ray of sun that made it past a shed, trees and other objects to come to a rest on just the corner of the split rear window. It was amazing that we could even see it as it was 100 yards from the road and behind another car.

We asked to go see them, The Lady in the house would not let us go back as here Horse was about to give birth, she did mention that she thought there was more than one with the split windows back there. Turns out they were renters and the cars had been there for a long time. Just as we were about to head home a guy came out of the house.....I could hear Dueling banjo's playing. He had no shirt, no shoes and black jeans with Mullet that Billy Ray would be proud of.

He was a nice guy and took us back to look at the cars, he told us all were for sale and money talks. As we walk back we can see the first Oval...

It's a bare shell, not all that bad but not a split.

The second Oval was more complete but very rusty.

Anyone want a Gremlin????
There was also some 51 Chev's Dodge trucks and a lot of Late beetles and Buses.

But now onto the holly grail!!! Like I said before we could only see the split from the road so we had no idea how bad it would be or how good it may turn out to be................................... On to the pic!

Well you gotta check every lead, some day you just may find a real Split.

Anyone want a late beetle with bad fiberglass split section. :lol:

Post by: BUSDADDY on March 20, 2006, 12:22:14 PM: Already talked to the guy who owns those cars a month ago, the one complete oval is ROTTEN, the other stripped one has some potential (late pan). Yes he is willing to deal but the cars don't have titles so good luck crossing the border.
