We need your help!
We would like to make the 2006 GCVWS the largest and best yet. We need your help spreading the word! Many of you are members on other boards and located in other parts of the world. If you think people in your area may be interested in attending or just knowing what day the GCVWS will be held on, please post and forward this to as many forums and friends as you can.
If your part of a club or have a large (or small) group of VW friends in your email contact list.....SPAM the hell out of them :D
Were looking to add more classes, activities,Club displays, etc.
We also want to have the largest display of T3's to date, spread the word! They will have their very own section of honour.
Ghia's will have their own class so tell everyone witha Ghia, Rusty or show they just may win!
Volks Rods will also have their own class, We hope to Steve with the Rat Patrol again this year as well as a few more.
If you would like to add a comment to what you would like to see this year please post in the GCVWS feedback forum.
Thanks.
Geoff.

I would love to do what I can.
Is there any downloadable poster that I can print?
Emilio

Not as of yet, Just the info above. We will have posters closer to spring.
-
hey geoff, any word about whether the vw paradise crew is going to try to make it up or not? if the devils hot rod or the nail (vw paradise dragster) or both showed up that would be huge.
i'll do my best to promote the show both on-line and through word of mouth. if you have handbills or posters that need dispersment, i would be more than happy to help out there too.
-
GCVWS is always the best show of the season, much better then anything in washington and that includes water/aircooled.
I was giving it some thought, and i think it would be wise to have 2 classes for MK1's. one for modified and one for stock/preserved/restored.
because they are becoming very popular and theres more then just butchered 16 year olds hot hatches. lots of people are devoting themselvs to restore mk1s, and there are some very very clean examples around town, and recently ive come across some stunning low mileage original owner cars.
piling it all into one class wont do them justice anymore.
Think about it.
-
AirCooledRules, Thanks for the input. We'll take a look at the H20 classes and see what we can do.
If anyone has any emails or web addy's for VW clubs in Canada or USA that may be interested in attending post them up or forward this link.
Thanks.
Geoff.

I'll whore it out as much as I can when I go down to the Type3 invasion in June. You guys should have some pamphlets done by then right? I'll need some advertising. :mullet:
-
Is there pay parking again? It would be nice to let people know
Kevin
-
I'm pretty sure there has been pay parking in the Coquitlam Town Center Park for quite some time now. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the city is not going to waive the parking fees for parking lots around a car show.
-
Its been pay parking for almost 10 years
-
The pay parking inside the show area has been the same for 4 years ($2.00 all day) That little amount helps fund this event.
-
We might come ;)
-
What are you gonna do give me a stupid parking ticket? bastards :P
-
I still remember the flack I got since I was 1 of the guys collecting for the first time of pay parking inside the show, I remember Geoff nominating me, I think Matt was also 1 of the lucky ones too then....thanks for the memory.... :D . It probably isn't so bad collecting now.
Kevin

I did it 2 years ago, and it still wasnt pleasant.
-
Nope. Wasn't me.
I will never be involved in the organization/ production of any VW club/ event, that's just me. I will however attend them all and then complain about the way they were run.

kewl, another excuse to go to canada, now I need a bigger trailer ...........
.....or maybe tow the split up with the notch :D
-
I would really like to see some classy ladies on stage struttin their stuff!
Fun for the wholefamily! :D
-
If there were more classes, i'm sure it would increase costs and such, but many ppl probably wouldn't mind paying some extra to make it happen :)... food for thought.... lots of organizing... done good so far! make it the best event of the year for sure!
-
I did the parking last year and there were a lot of people that did not know that they had to pay $2 to park. I didnt make many new friends that day, but I also learned some chinese swear words from the people that just wanted to go to the park!
-
LOL yeah i did parking once...... and never again
ive never been in so many fights in one day....
-
Maybe there should be a sign by the main road going in that says it is $2.00 to park all day. It would make the collectors job a bit less stressful.
Shouldn't the advertisement signs say parking $2.00 so people know?
Kevin
-
There is as much free parking as you like outside the event. If ya cant find $2.00 to to enter a FREE show then you need help. :P
We did have a sign last year, the people who have a problem are the ones who come to use the water park and such, We rent the parking lot's and don't want fords and Hondas parked on the side streets blocking the pic's.
There is plenty of room to park down the road in the third parking lot but yeah you gotta cough up a whopping $2.00!
The other option is we do what every other show in the USA and canada has, Rent a fence and charge $15 per person no matter what....hmmm $2.00 for the few who want to park inside the show seems kinda cheap now. :D
-
Geoff, dont get your sisters panties in a bunch. You dont have to tell us, its the spectators that should now about it. More signs the better because you know the old saying-\"you cant educate pork\".
-
You got it Brian! We will put Danny Boy in charge of some new signs.
-
what ever, i dont have a problem with paying a couple bucks for a good parking spot, i love the fact that its a open free event in the park.
the atmosphere is just so happy, you dont even have to love cars to have a good time at the show. you can bring a towel and hang out.
-
kudos on the rod category -- that could be a big draw for sawzall lovers to the south. shall spread the word...
