Title: Stroker Piston & Cylinders
Post by: egspot on February 25, 2006, 01:38:12 PM

I imagine there is a lot of debate on what pistons/cylinders to use when one uses a 74mm ceankshaft.

Additionally, I realized (with a few hints from AS members) that once the crankshaft goes to 78mms  and greater there a  different type of pistons to be used (cylinders are the same i imagine.)

 My question is  whether there is any difference between \"MAHLE / CIMA GRAPHITE COATED 94MM X 82MM \" and \"MAHLE / CIMA GRAPHITE COATED 94MM X 78MM \" or for that matter 90.5mm X 78mm vs.   90.5mm X 82mm?

I am thinking that there are both stroker pistons regardless of the size of the stroker crankshaft, ie. the same pistons can be use for 78 X 94 as well as 82 X 94.

There may be a difference in the clearancing of the skirt of the piston, the bigger the crank the bigger the stroke, so that means more travel inside and out of the case, needing more clearancing.

Buy the right pistons for the right motor.
