Alright I am going to make some training videos for my work and then for other sections of the company I work for. Anyone have experience with Adobe Production Studio Premium [info here] http://www.adobe.com/products/bundles/vide...deo_bundle.html (http://www.adobe.com/products/bundles/video_bundle.html)

I was thinking of purchasing this with a huge ass external harddrive in the 500Gb range.

OR purchase a Mac http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.a...154&catid=22156 (http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10071154&catid=22156)

Any thoughts?

Mac package. Check out the pros  -  for this work they mostly use Mac's.

iMovie which comes with a Mac works just fine, no need to go out and spend BIG$$... Final Cut Pro

pretty easy to use PC boy....
Do you really need a laptop?? So much more$$

Checkout www.craigslist.com/vancouver in the computers section--search G5 with a superdrive. People are dumping G5s for the NEW INTEL chip mac...

If you are going to jump to the new intel Mac, be ready to wait for native Adobe products. Final cut uses the universal binary but the current versions of photoshop, illustrator, macromedia studio etc... only work on intel macs with rosetta.

The G5 towers seem to be the best bang for the buck right now. If you can get a used dual processor, I'd snap it up and fill it with ram. When your rendering video the more ram the better.

i do quite a bit of video editing and such, its one of my jobs. i use a nice G5 mac with final cut pro and imovie. generally, if you are wanting to do basic stuff, imovie which comes with a mac... is very good and really easy to use.

Chris is right - this is a work related, not worried about budget project. Thanks for the input guys, I have asked for the latest/greatest MAC (shutup I know) with final cut pro. My IT department won't support it for me but that shouldn't be a problem I would think.

its a great program... but know that its going to take a bit of time and patience to learn it as it is so dense. try to find someone who can guide you through the basics if you have never used it before.
