What is the process of changing a 64  or 66 trany to t-4, 4.12@p,.082 4th gear?

Who does this kind of work?

The first step is to get yourself a 71-72 DSC IRS trans, or a 71 or later swing axle.  Call up Airspeed, I think they have a few cores like this.

If your existing core has O-ring type side covers, it will provide all the parts needed to convert the IRS trans to swing.

To get a .82 4th gear, you need to find one in a 68-71 Bus trans.  I don't know if all those years come with a .82, but at least 2 versions exist in those gearboxes.

68 bus trannys with the bolt on side covers have a lower ratio than the mid 69-71 style, I dont know if it's the gears that are different or the final drive but a 68 turns alot faster on the freeway than a 71. 72's even slower.
