^&%#^#@. sorry to post here but not many look below to transmision problems and I'm trying to get feedback and do what I have to by Thursday.

You need a new shift coupler.
Get new one.
Install.
and your car should be fine.

Look a little closer.  There is a lot of condensation and rust buildup in the tunnel.  There is a reason the coupler failed.  Usually because it has been subjected to some force beyond it's design strength.  I would dig a little deeper, because there is a good chance the new coupler will fail prematurely as well.

You are welcomet o it if its more conveint to come into Van.( kits ) you are welcome to the one in my buggy if you are tight on funds there is nothing wrong with it to the best of my knowledge, it would be a freebie to ya ...shoot me a pm with your telly and we could talk more .

Yea there is rust and yes it did come apart but if you consider that the gear shift moves the tube and thus the coupler moves the shift fork dewhickey would not the only negative force be the shift fork dewhickey? Any binding of the tube / shifter would not effect the coupler ie; rust ( unless it is not alighned ) the  shift cone dewhickey could binde I guess if the trans monut failed and the alighment was out . I know that ajusting them can be nasty but  thr rust in the tunnle should not real have any bearing on the shifting of the gear shift dewhickey thingamabob...If ya get my drift.
      Just a hillbilly rambling............Bill
      PEACE BUBBA -_-

I think doubledoor has it right, Tranny mount or nosecone might be broke, if not then just the coupler!
And I would find out now where the water is coming from and fix it before you lose that tunnel.
Just my two cents and now i have none.
Cheers

Definitely needs a new coupler but HOLY SH*T that cars not going to last long with that moisture in there !!
Where's it coming from? are the rockers like that too? For your cars sake dry it out and get some rust preventative like waxoil or rustkiller in there and try to find the leak so it stays dryer. Might want to put some in the beam and frame horns too.

Thanks for coming to my assistance guys; your generosity is very much appreciated. Fortunately, Airspeed is giving me a good fair deal and I will go by tomorrow.
