Well I bought anew house a few years ago and traded up for a covered 12x20 carport wich would be good at the coast but to cold in Salmon arm .I would like to tear the bus down but unitl I close in the space I drive and try to restore Some of you look like you have secure but small shops ,but do manage to put some nice rides together how about some pics of work spaces you can see my carport in the bottom pic with the 1600dp on the bench that is now in it I have two small storage areas for parts and nicer stuff and centerlines in the house . Hope to get carport covered in this summer . Really motivated by looking at all the other members projects . So WHAT JUGOT FOR WORK SPACE  :)

I do all of my work in a home 2 car shop, 22X23 FT. Decent basic equipment, good light and heat are the most important factors. Quite often, I will work at a customers own garage..free lunch. ;)  It's when you want to tackle the dreaded body/paint area that the home garage can become a problem. The fine art of 'Subbing Out' work becomes neccesary.

I used to sublet a 40x60ft shop in crack town in surrey. Currently I work mostly outdoors or at my buddies shop(he's an old vw/audi/porsche mechanic. I gotta clean out my parents small 2 car garage in yuppie ville

I have a single carport thats filled in with a ghia and alot of parts in it and a shop in the back with 2 bugs in it and knee high in parts . I've working on my oval outside enjoying the weather :(

The sidewalk in front of my crappy Newton rented house :(

On the weekends when I'm not being lazy I work out of my bro's shop (14 x 30 roughly) in the ghetto in Abby. If it wasn't for that shop I wouldn't be able to even dream about restoring a VW let alone driving one every day.
It's always helpful to have a little \"hoist time\" at a friends' shop once in a while too  :wub: .

Triple detached garage and a pad to hold 6 VW's out of sight.  Just got her insulated, needs poly.  Free heat bills this month, woot woot!

My split is making it a permanent 2 car garage however... Hmmm.

Split, FD, and the Eclipse is hiding to the right.  (CBR, fiddy and the chopper are in front of the FD).

I have a 2 car garage/shop. Half the building is a garage the other half is a dance/music studio (one kid dances and they both play music). When the kids move out the deviding wall comes out and I have a 4 car shop! :rockon:

I got no shop. Sometimes I do minor stuff in the parkade, while some other times I put all the parts in Plastic containers, clean them and then do what needs to be done on a small deck. As for the remaining work, I have to pay someone to do it.

You know, there should be a place where they rent you the space by the hour, day or week. Then people could bring they VW and do the work they need to. If you have to switch engines between two VWs it could be done in a four hours period (providing you don't find surprises.) Who knows, it may even make money to save others money.

I never want to take my VW to Canadian Tires or the others like them. I think that would be sacrilegious

I use an old lean to out back. Dirt floor, quite damp. The cars I work on get quite a bit of rust as I go but paint will cover it up.

There is a fully outfitted garage in Surrey with a hoist that you can rent. Have tools and such.. Don't know it off by heart but it sounds like it could help some of you guys.

typical two car garage project on one side 57 daily driver on the other.

Two car garage thats so full of unfinished projects and parts and kids bikes and toys and other junk that I can barely walk through from one end to the other. When I need to work on our daily family cars , it's outside on the driveway.  I've been dreaming of adding a 12' x 30' covered area on the side of the house, but so far it just aint happening.

650 sq ft detached garage with a washroom, wired 220. Also have a nice little unused space in the back corner of the yard to store a future project car...just have to cut down one small tree. Hope there are no tree huggers here!

i haven't been out to my garage in 5 weeks.hope everthings ok in there.
so i'm using rustys scotch and cigar lounge at present to assemble my motor.
its warm ,well stocked and good ventilation for when you need to light up. :D

1 car garage for the 56. no heat and my tools are at work so when i want to go to the garage and work on the car i need to try and remember to bring all that i need.

i have had the luxury of working on the 64 at work. hoist, air, lots of lights, heat, loud stereo, large bench space, oxy/acey, parts washer, yadda yadda. even tho i dont work there anymore, my boss said it's cool to come down to work on the car if i need to.

Alan's got about the best setup.  His own small double at home, then the full shop at Edmonds Motors anytime he wants.  The problem with that is other people always want him to work on their cars for free.

I used to have a full 20x24 with up to 3 cars side by side in it.  Now I'm into a 17x17.  Moving down in size sucks, but the new one is fully insulated so it gets pretty warm with just one 1500W heater.

For all you poor bastards that have to work on your cars on the street or at a friend's place, consider underground parkades.  I remember in the early 90s when the snow was so deep I couldn't get to my garage in the alley.  So I loaded up my snow tires and headed over to Metrotown's underground.  Nice concrete, dry, lots of light, and warm to boot.  If you have a job to do that takes a couple hours, that's the place to go.

We have a place called \"Desro's\" in Edmonton.  Hoist, power tools, PAINT BOOTH, etc etc.

I just finished building myself a 30x32 shop with 10 foot ceilings.
Fully insulated and finished. Took me a year to build (after work and on weekends)

Yes its heated
Labor was free built it myself
I used to work in construction so i took advantage of all the suplyers an got a good deal but it was still around 30K

I work in my shared parcade under the coop where i live in East Van, which is shitty as the Crackheads break in so no room to leave stufff thats moveable around,actually caught one once on my way to work at 4.30am which is why i need a new turnsignal on my Honda(well worth it) i get lots of free electricity though and annoying letters from the board telling me to move my unlicensed car :lol:  :lol:
