wow...nice bus. it looks great rolling on 5 spokes. what is it...a 58?
kind of on the same topic...there was a 51 (i think) belgium split located in quebec for sale on thesamba.com recently and the seller says it may be heading west. anyone have any info on that?
-
That would be a 59. it looks hot.
-
i wish i could have gotten a pic o the interior. absolutly beautiful, except for the dash being cut for a stereo. full bench seats throughout though. very nicely done.

The seller supposedly has quite a collection of early VWs. I emailed him and mentioned I would love to see and photograph his collection, but he wasn't too keen on that. I can't say as I blame him. He did say he was planning on opening an art studio style Beetle Museum in the future though.

Why not a 60 or 61? (Taillights?)
-
I'm thinkin 60, recessed door handles but no eyebrow over hatch handle.

That's Francois. He has pretty much one of every year beetle from late 40's up til the late 70's I think. He tries to keep his cars Canadian. Hence why he was in Saskatoon a couple years ago trying to buy my friends '52 CC split (one of the first ones in Canada for the Expo)
I heard he was planning on opening his collection to the public eventually. He tries to stay pretty underground, but maybe he's coming outta hiding now.

looks to have the fridge style door handles which end in 59. and the non-pressed bumpers which start in 59. so its a 59.

Fridge style door handles ended in 63 on the T2 actually.

Gee I wonder how this little discrepancy is going to turn out??? [_[

hehehe
-
I just call em as I see 'em.
I say it's a 60 cause it also has the reccess around the door handle base. This is assuming that all these panels are correct for this bus. I love a good mystery. :P
-
wow, thats nuts.
-
This is getting out of hand, obviously I'm not the only one with not much to do.
According to dropgates.com the door handle recess was introduced in dec. 60, too bad we can't see the cargo doors (high hinge? / low hinge?) or a pic of the speedo pod (square or round corners).
Whatever year it is it's a cool looking bus.
I wish Santa would hook me up with something like that.
Back to welding on the singlecab. Happy holidays everyone.
