Title: Manifold Nuts
Post by: Trevor P on December 21, 2005, 05:19:37 PM
Does anyone have the Berg part# for the manifold nuts that they sell for running larger intakes/carbs? I believe that they are a 12mm hex instead of the stock 13mm to clear the manifold better. Looked through the catalog, but can't seem to find them.

Trevor you want the #  GB 967NUT it's an 8mm ID, with a 3/8 wrench size, and it is a flanged style nut.

Trevor, you don't have to get those from Berg.  Just go over to any Toyota/Honda/Nissan/Mazda dealer and get some.  Japanese standard m8 nuts are 12mm hex.

The Berg nuts have an 8mm ID and use a 10mm socket. They are beyond trick. I use a 3/8 drive ratchet, long extension, w. a swivel and a deep 10mm socket to apply some real torque. No more loose intakes since I started using these. Trust me, I was plagued with loose intake problems.

Lanny, I'm with K-roc on this. I thought you looked at my nuts last summer and decided that they really were SAE  ;)

Trevor, I have Berg's monster manifolds (TB style though) and the 3/8\" x 8mm flanged nuts are the Shatz. I use a 3/8\" x 1/4\" drive swivel socket on a 10 or 12\" 1/4\" drive extension and it works really well, the best I could figure out.

The nuts that Bruce mentioned won't work with my manifolds or any of the truly big uns, but they are OK for exhaust. There is a tall 11mm (3/8\") x 8mm nut in steel or Brass that I prefer for exhaust.

speaking about exhaust, Lanny, don't you suffer from bad exhaust????
