Dang power surges yesterday and today.
I lost 1 computer and a good screen. I'm down to using the crappy(power surged) screen and an old 677mhz P3. I'm glad all our e-mails are made into 2 copies for each computer ....phew... atleast I'm saved for business stuff.
I'm lucky the cnc computer wasn't affected, the cnc motor speed jumped 1000+ rpm when it happened today and scared the crap out of me.
I also found out when I took in the one computer the $40.00 power bar I had that was supposed to protect from power surges is only for lighting strike power surges, an electrical power surge is to slow acting and doesn't blow the fuse. Only a lightning strike will blow the fuse.
There is only one kind of power bar that protects from power surges and it has a battery inside. The wall power feeds the battery, and the battery feeds the computer, the battery takes up any varience in power supply. I learned something new today.
The moral of my posting is if you have really expensive computer hardware, get the proper powerbar with a battery inside.
