Title: Help Me Computer Gurus

My 2 yr old constantly bangs on the keyboard and now for some reason all sound out of my computer sounds like it is being played down a long hallway or next door. I can't figure it out. What did he do??

I need more info. pc or mac? operating system? does your mouse work? can you type with the keyboard? etc.

pc windows xp. everything else works fine. just the sound

Usually, you can have certain keystrokes served as shortcuts for commands. He probably pressed some keys simultaneously and changed a setting. Fortunately, on XP you can reset to a previous date (recovery) when you boot up the computer (read the screen as you start your computer. You must choose a date prior to when the problem started. This will not affect your files. It only deals with your operating environment.


You could also go into the control panel and find the setting for sound. Then you must find which one to reset.

After you fix it, make o back up of your settings into a CD For the future (it may happen again.)

in the settings for your sound card/drivers there is a profile setting for the sound or sound effects, you can change it to be in a hall, under water, live, so on and so forth, usually by going in to some of the more advanced settings you can find it, do you know if there is some sort of mixer software installed?
