Hey guys,
I'll attach a few more pics in a few minutes. Yes James I know its a bit ass heavy. Now if only Stiener returns my emails about his tires that he wants to sell it will get right. Its amazing how no bumpstops and 1 notch in the back with ground out spring plates does. And who really needs bumpstops in the front.
Problem is though in the back I've already ground the muffler HARD getting out of my buddys shop on 76th ave. No way to get out even trying different approach angles. Depending on what happens it may go..(Muffler that is)
Btw did I mention how nice this thing rides now? Holy crap its more solid then the bimmer!

Glad I spent the money on the car then the replacement mail order bride

Hey Hulk,
Just trying to give  \"representation\" since taking low shots on a slanted small driveway sucks. Anyways the saggy ass running boards have already been yanked off.

Egspot. What it took was a adjustable beam up front with the bumpstops cut off. I'm running stock size tires. I could of gone lower in the front if I didn't have my disc brakes which means I can't use dropped spindles due to the kit I used. In the back 1 notch in the torsion bar down, and some notched spring plates and removed bumpstops.
She rides pretty darn good for a beetle. I'll take it out to UBC sometime and maybe I can take you for a test boot.

ok. i wasnt going to post up about this. but i can resist anymore. i will post a pic when i get home to show how little clearance i have. but you dont know what \"grounding the muffler hard\" is until you drive my car. 2 notches with adjustable spring plates to get it lower. and the front as low as i can go with drop spindles and adjustable beam, also i am running 17's. you have the luxury of big tires, i have 40 series! that gives me no give in the tires! when you scrape the belly of your pan on speed bumps then you can call your car SLAMMED! so take it down a notch more in the rear, get the right rims so you put on drop spindles! and dont say that isnt good for daily driving either, i do everyday!

sorry just my thoughts on what is and isnt slammed!

james.

Hey Dude,
I don't have a problem saying my beetle isn't slammed. But considering how much this car has changed from a bone stocker to what it is now it is slammed. I wish I could get dropped spindles but my disc brake kit doesn't allow it(Its the Socal one). I just don't want to be that low. I think it looks right for a beetle. I want to get a tiny bit more rake. I can go lower but the style of muffler I have doesn't allow it. BTW I have seen you driving down highway 10 and yes your bug is low..
Cheers mate,
Kirin

Kirin you don't need drop spindles to have a car super low. It just rides better. If you have an adjustable beam you can make the car go as low as you want it. I was going to sell you my 135's but I decided to keep them for my race car. As far as low bugs around here.Nobody has any really low ones except for the boys on the island JM and friends. If you want to go lower in the rear at any point you can just move the spring plates up a little.Darren notched the spring plates for you so they won't hit.And if you don't want your muffler hitting the ground simply shave a bit off the bump stops.I forget whether Darren put them in or not.Adjustable spring plates are a waste of money and time. You only need them if you want to adjust the ride height daily.Once the ride height is set why would you want to change it?
If you need to know anything about lowering your car more.Just ask me?

Hey Stiener,
I have no bumpstops front or back. Right now I'm just kind of playing with the set up. I definetly want some smaller tires up front and some bigger ones to fill out the wheel wells a bit. I don't want to be much lower and nor do I want some crazily narrowed beam. I do not like the look of beetles with a lot of \"tuck\" outfront...
I appreciate the offer of teaching me some stuff I'd love to learn more... Since I'm more worried about getting it right rather then being right...

No prob!Dude all you need is some 135's in the front and it would make a huge difference. Here's a pic of my car a few years ago with notched spring plates and no drop spindles. But I had temps in the front.

Hey Steiner,
That colour combo is ultimately what I want my car to look like with chromies and whitewalls. Not original I know but hey it still classy!
Next step tires.. after I'm done being broke:P
