You have to bring the paper work back to the boarder (can side) and have it redone....there might be a small fee but I was told there is no charge.

seems dead simple.

Are you in the RIV program?
If you are you don't have to go back to the border. You can phone them, get an extension and pay (I think $100) for another 45 or so days. If you're 15+ exempt, then I have no idearz..

??
15 days? I'm talking about the '15 year old exempt rule'. Nevermind, it seems like you have all this under control.

I brought my DC up from Washington in July and just got it on the road 3 weeks ago.
I was worried about the same thing(excessive rust repair time) but when I talked to ICBC they said that rule is not in stone. It mostly applies to newer vehicles that need safety standard upgrades. If it's vintage nothing to worry about. If it's vintage it doesn't need to go thru a federal inspection , just the provincial one.
Phone ICBC and ask them yourself. The dude I talked to was actually pretty interested in my question.
My DC is safetied, and insured with no issues. Just gotta aircare it.
Good luck!!!
