This info came off of the UK site:
It was bought new in 66 by a company in uxbridge as this chaps company car, they then sold it to him as a private car 3 years later and he kept it as his car until about 2001 when unfortunately he died leaving his son and widow his estate. his son kept the car in the garage it had stood in for years until his mother was taken ill and had to leave their bungalow they had lived in most of their lives. I used to work with the son of the chap that owned the car (the son was nearing retirement himself) and he offered me the car as he knew it would be looked after. i bought the car out of respect for the old chap as he had faithfully maintained it for so long but i really didn't have a use ofr it myself as i had the ghia and the oval. enter speckvwfreak! who bought the car from me and restored it to this fine example you see here.
just the other day i bumped into the chap i bought it from and told him how fine it looked, he was well pleased it was back on the road and being enjoyed.

They're made in Germany by a company called Dakota (http://www.dakota.de/shop/dakota-grand-prix-c-29.html). I don't know who sells them in the UK, but Wilkinson's Automobilia in Vancouver is expecting some soon.
