Ok I know this has been brought up before but I still have a question.
If I get buddy to sign the title into my name .Can I bring the car through that day along with the title and reg. According to the Canadian border I can. Now I know I did this with my impala but I thought I read on this forum that the border needs 2 days notice or something like that.

Hey Aaron Call me and I will tell you what I had to do to get the DC here
-
As long as you have bill of sale and title,Go straight too the border..Better to say is parts car..No need for the two days notice then..
-
Canada does not care it is the USA that does.
-
72 Hours notice. You need to present the title to the US Side 72 hours in advance. Then you go to the US side, have customs 'clear' the title/car for export THEN head to the Canadian side.
-
Yup, That is it, Unless you say it is a parts car, However if there is an engine in it that may not work.
-
I don't think any border gaurd, no matter how stupid with power, will think that vert is a parts car.
On a second note. I need to get to Seattle to pick up some wheels, where did you say this car was Aaron?

In Washington D.C Foolio

Damn!!

I'm just pullin your leg. I'm buying it at Bellis Fair mall. Isn't everybody else

I just imported a 67 on tuesday. The Canadian side is easy, exporting it out of the US takes some patience. Take the pink slip/regi/bill of sale in at least 3 working days in adavnce. After 72 hours then they will stamp the paperwork and you're on you're way....to the Canadian border. Pay the PST/GST..some more paperwork, done.

I didn't realize the US customs was involved until I talked to people
-
You should read up on it yourself rather than getting second hand info.
They don't mess around at either border. There is more misinformation in this thread than I have time to get into.

What exactly did I miss? The BC inspection that is required before plates/regi are issued? All I know is that with the steps I took, the car is in BC, properly.

Another thing you can do is find the U.S border crossing that accepts faxes of the reg/title as well as a copy of your drivers licence etc. We did that for the DC and then since Shane picked it up in Arizona he faxed it immediately and then by the time he made it to the border it had been processed because it was perfectly 72 hours.
So you could maybe arrange something with the guy to get that faxed in ahead of time and then go down to get it after the 72 hours. ;)

Ok, I went and found our documentation for the DC,
Shane went through the Sumas border
their phone number is 360-988-4781 or 360-332-2632
When Shane faxed them all of the stuff required, he then phoned to ensure they got it and at that time they told him to complete a worksheet that helps the process.
Any questions just P.M myself or Shane (pointblank)

Fax it ahead a couple days in advance. I ended up finding a Minnisota kinkos and going from there. If there is a problem with the info they will call you. In my case my drivers license \"blacked out\" So all I ended up doing was calling customs from the middle of south dakota. If you don't export it properly from the states your just asking for trouble. Any other questions stiener you can talk to me today when you pick up the 1200.
