Find a wiring diagram. Online there are a few.....someone should chime in with some addresses.

www.vintagebus.com has the best online diagrams - otherwise goto Airspeed and pick up a bentley manual.

For the later 5 wire bn2 heaters it's,

Brown wire to ground,
fat green or maybe blue ( I'll have to check, memory fuzzy) to battery with inline fuse (16a),
gray wire to dash switch +,
two smaller wires left over go to the fuel pump. ( neg. should have some brown on it)

You got a fuel pump right? it's usually on the front bulkhead below the tank in front of the passengers footrest, early 3 wire heaters have it mounted on the heater but it's a different pump.

Hope this helps, I'll go look today and get the exact colors for you.

There should be a plate on the heater housing stating what model of heater it is. My Karmann Ghia website (www.type-14.com) has detailed factory manuals for the BA4, BN2 and BN4 model gas heaters on the \"Chassis\" page.

Ok, I've got a great memory, it's just short. That was for the pre 72 heater. Just went and looked at a 72 and up 5 wire BN2 and it's...

Red/white = Battery + 16 amp fuse
Brown = chassis ground
Blue = dash switch +
Green = Fuel pump +
Brown/white = Fuel pump -

Late style metering pump (push on fittings on opposite ends, looks like a long fuel filter with wires coming out) mounts under the fuel tank and tees into main fuel line, 1/4\" line in, 3/16\" line out to burner nozzle on heater.
Good luck.
