Title: Firberglass Shroud Paint

Hey guys,

I just spoke with a friend of mine that owns a body shop about painting my fiberglass shroud. He says that i should be using high temp paint or else it would bubble. So he gave me a place to call about the hi temp paint.

Called White and Peters and they're asking $200 bucks for a quart of hi-temp gloss black paint.  :o

So my question is, do i really need hi-temp paint for this application? Or does anyone know of a cheaper source of paint?  I know Canadian tire carries the aeresol can version, but i don't trust my painting skills.  ^_^

BTW, this is a porsche shroud.

I use regular paint on shrouds with out a problem. Even did a block for a buddies nova 5 years ago. That was done with ppg.

He must not know what the piece is for - not alot of heat hitting the fan shroud...

Go to lordco and and then blast it with DCC 9300. You won't be disappointed. Lots of boys are painting chassis and everything with it. Amazing stuff like Rusty said.

woohoo!  I'm glad to hear the news!  I'll ask him to see if he has that paint in stock.  Reason why I was leaning towards the hi temp paint was beause of the areas that are close to the cylinders next to the exhaust ports

But if others have done it before then I'll go ahead with the regualr PPG paint.

We used a speed enamel on Cales fiberglass frontend, got it from cloverdale paint 36bucks a gallon :rockon: , it worked out really well.
