The slowest car is now a 14sec.... However I know

Come on you guys lets show everyone you must have a 13sec  car to make this list...

I'm in for september too, are you talking about the one on the 16th? - I will have our new Digitial Video camera there as well so come on out and put on a show for the world to see on the site!

I have a video project that I am working on for the site so it would be cool to get some new content for it, I already have an original song mix to dub it to thanks to one of my employees at work - its going to rock!

Hopefully my trans will be fixed in a week or two.  On that DVKK drag night my first run was absolutely horrible. The air wasn't bad that night but I lost 3mph  in the 1/4 and 2 1/4 second tenths slower.  May have been some airjet corrections but not 3mph slower compared to my consistant high 108mph numbers.

Not trying to make excuses but what I speculate is that since my throttle cable snapped it frayed slowly and stretched. My guess is that I wasn't even getting full throttle in my first run. My pedal felt real odd for 2 days before the street drags and I should have checked. I barely made 7500 rpms in third gear I should have known something was wrong. I was just staring at the shift light waiting for it to light and I couldn't wait so I short shifted. 3rd gear felt like it was there forever.

I'll probably make it out to mission in september. I gotta keep up with tom H. By looking at his MPH he's making some good HP and when he leans out his soggy a/f ratio he's got alot more in that baby!!...........bastard!!!! ;)

Are you saying you where only getting 3/4 throttle?
I thought your cam was going flat!
I've got the video of your last run....want me to email to ya?

Well my motor is out, trans should be out tomorrow. I'll drop off the trans to Terry and hope he can get it fixed while I'm in Holland. I'll be back on the 14th I think?!!? I sure hope to get a few passes in this year now that I know my MSD was holding me back.

Hey mathematically challenged one.  I've found a site that corrects for altitude...

Altitude correction factors (http://www.greatlakesdragaway.com/correctionfactors.html)

This would make my run a 14.381@90.92 based on 3500 ft altitude, 15.02 ET and a speed of 87 mph even.  This would also mean that Dustin's time is actually faster than shown.

Build a bigger engine he says...Oy Vey.

That's what I'm thinking - you have cheaper parts with your lower taxes so it evens out in the end!
Title: Ac Top 20
Post by: flat4 on August 26, 2005, 11:24:59 AM
less taxes for sure...it still doesn't change the fact that the guys over here will never play the same game, as the altitude is a permanent handicap.

I guess I'll have to take Shane's approach after all...bigger and badder...eventually.

I've saved the website you found and will hold onto the correction factors for next season - in the off season this winter I will be polling the ACTop20 membership for different changes that I am thinking of - I'll add yours to the list.

The hits just keep on coming from you, eh fella?  I'm in India right now working on some software.  I don't come home for another 10 days.  Not a VW in site.  so cold...SO COLD without them...but it has been 35 outside each day!

If only we did...totally work related.  What a neat place...palm trees everywhere...crossing the street is like playing a game of human frogger, except you only get one life, and there's no way to insert extra credits to continue the game when you die.  I've seen 4 elephants on the road so far...pretty odd indeed.

I'll set up some imagestation photos for you to view tomorrow.  It's after midnight here...

Be safe out there dood. Watch out for the elephant poop. I would imagine it would be hard to get off your shoes. Later fella.

Hi James,
FYI Those correction factors look like they are for normally aspirated motors.
Turbo and supercharged cars have a different set of correction factors (much smaller), because they are not affected as much, by altitude.

Thanks for the info Cam - I wasn't aware of the difference. I will revisit that come winter time when the site gets geared up for the 2006 series.

James!
Found more track correction factors, from the official source.
NHRA Track Correction  (http://www.nhra.com/tech_specs/altitude.html)
Notice the bold print, about forced induction cars.
p.s. Mission Raceway is at sea level. No correction factor.

Its pretty funny that you can see where the elephants had been based on the amount of broken trees along the side of the road, and the \"speed bumps\" they leave behind.

I'm looking forward to altitude corrected numbers, fella.

There is still more HP to be had out of it. Stll running fat and I'm slowly approaching 12.6ish afr. I may be able to get the 60s into the 1.4 range but I may want the sissy sticks. My last pass when I did the 1.51, the front wheels were hanging aboot 2 feet in the air   :o. It was a fun day, only ran against V8s.

Its interesting, Alan's car and mine are so close to the same package, engines are very, very close , car weight is only 10 pounds different.  The 2 real differences are compression and gearing.

the next 2 races may not net me any new numbers as the tracks are 1000ish  feet (Yakima) and Vegas is ??? too high.

Tom you rock, another example of wideband ,  FI,  and   and it's tuning abilities.  And here I putter on an old SU needle tapering it to make my car run better. Talk about stone age
