Umm, try a THICKER shim stack.  By adding 'thickness' you gain clearance.  That sort of reminds me of the \"I cut it three times but it's still too short!\"  Perservere, you'll get it.

There was an earlier question regarding setting the end play.  With his question edited it is a bit confusing.
