Knock this one up for not mocking up the whole motor first, I found out the 8mm head stud would not hold torque, the case saver pulled right out at 15 pounds grrrrrrrrrrrr. I was flying, the short block was done allready all that was needed to be done was put the cylinders on and install the heads and do rocker geometry. It was a walk in the park, my 10 year old was helping me assemble everything. She went to bed and I only had to torque the head studs down, and then it happened.
So the only fix I can think of since the case saver has an outer diameter of approx 12mm is to make up my own threaded insert larger than this and thread out the inside to 8mm. This happened on the lower #3 stud closest to the flywheel.
I wanted to be fabbing up the turbo system this weekend. we''ll see how this repair goes, hopefully I don't screw up the case with some goof up.

hope all goes well with the case Repair. I'm down 45 minutes west of Chase on the lake. If a rainy day comes up before tuesday and if you would like a hand I'd be more then willing to drive to the Mous and lend a hand(Or a couple thumbs). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you kick some ass at the track..

Problem fixed now I can re-assemble tonight after work, I didn't work all day, I just had to get this problem out of my hair. I ended up making a 5/8\" threaded insert with a 8mm threaded inside. Worked out great other than the stud is just a little crooked by 1/8\" at the end. I tried to be so careful too.
I came across this website also., but not much help when I needed this done today. The price sure is right.
Geoff you guys should have some of these in stock, since they are very cheap pcs.

Me thinks you are confused Shane...... I drive Waldo and he's parked till I can find either a kingpin frontend or get the balljoint frontend and floorpan from down the road. It would appear that my front end thinks it's a swingaxle rearend that's been lowered. It's kinda like Waldo is frowning with the wheels tilted in like that. The Great Canadian isn't lookin good right now.
