Title: Fenders
Post by: PBrusse on July 05, 2005, 12:28:57 PM
I was dreaming about building a fenderless bug with a beam extension much like those seen on Volksrod.  Is that legal in BC?  Any positive feed back is appreciated.

Thanks, Philip

esentially the answer is no its not legal, you are required to run fenders and /or all body panels your vehicle was initally equipped with, but if it looks good I doubt it will be an issue, but if you build a shitbox then someone is likely to send you for an inspection, this is from what I recall from a previous time that I looked up the info.

In some areas there is a sunny day clause that allows you to drive open wheeled vehicles on clear days.

I have talked to a few police officers about this. Technically you can not \"legally\" run without fenders in BC. If you only drive on dry days and the car doesn't look like a death trap then you probably won't get bothered. As long as the car looks \"done\" or close enough to it and looks safe you are probably OK. This is all up to the discretion of the officer that sees you. If he wants to be a dick you can get ticketed/ordered for inspection (which you won't pass without fenders).
