Found some pics of my first bug and thought I'd post them. A '72 Super Beetle I paid $400 for back in '82. The rear fender mount area was so badly rusted that I ended up welding the fenders on and smoothed them. I didn't realize where the rear wiring harness passed, and during welding I melted it. What a mess:wacko: Swapped the tail light for 62-67s, and installed an electric antenna under the left one. The antenna mount broke one day and I lost in on the highway somewhere :D Replaced it with a cheapo rubber model mounted on the liscence plate light.
Paid a local garage $100 to spray it with Ford Grabber Blue. I still love that color. I paid $175 for the yellow '71 in the background. Swapped the engine into the '72, and sold the rest of it a few years later. Sold the Car in 87...I wonder if it's still alive:unsure:
