one of my guys at work is trying to fix his lower fog lamps on a 914 and the refletive surface is rusty and peeling on both inside surfaces of the lamp units .does anyone know if there is a product to reapplie the reflective surface back on.appears to be a painted on coating.for sure its not chrome

I was just reading in a Domestic magazine about a place that can re plate them with new silver. I'll see if I can find the issue.

If you can get the lens off and get at the reflective surface, it's easy. Bead blast all the rust off then paint it to prevent rust. Then go to your local hobby store and get some adhesive sheet chrome mylar. Cut it out to fit and stick it on.

I have a pair of fog lights that I think are in good shape. If he wants them let me know.

Hey theres a couple methods. Mask off and paint with silver reflective paint. Or the Mylar tape thing but it is tape... If the lenses easily pop out and its possible to just get the reflector done and depending on what kind of shape it is in you can get it replated locally. I had this done for my '30 ford and they came out beautifully but ultimately it depends on what you start with...
I can find the place that did it when I get back and look through my files.
