Title: 1979 Bus
Post by: trevor421 on May 18, 2005, 09:06:34 PM
Hi there, I'm hoping to try and install my engine into the van in the next week or so and i was wondering where the fuel injection brain (computer) sits. I looked in the bently but i couldnt find a picture of the computer in the engine compartment, I'm just wondering where to put the beast.
Thanks

in mine it is on the passenger side, above and to the rear of the battery tray area, there would be a rectangular opening where it mounts

Yup, passenger side, behind/beside the 'paint-can-lid' access hole. Just slides up there wires faceing towards the battery and bolts up.

Glad to hear your bus is almost running

Can you cut that hole for the brain into your bus? Might be a good idea to keep it out of the engine bay...sort of.
Also there is a bracket welded into the engine bay of f.i.  busses on that same side that holds the air filter / flow meter unit.  I've seen them cut out and rewelded into early busses too.
