Title: Need Help Shipping From The Island!
Post by: horizontallyopposed on April 19, 2005, 11:21:16 AM
I bought a car off a guy in Saanich 6 weeks ago.  There's a bunch of extra stuff he has that couldn't come back with the car - engine case, crank, heads, tranny, tires, boxes of odds and ends.  I need to get it from the Island to Calgary.  Problem is that its too much stuff for courier (it's currently sitting on a pallet approx 300 lbs, 48\"x48\"x38\"), but since the trucking world seems to end in Vancouver, there doesn't seem to be anybody that I can get ahold of here in Calgary who can go to dood's house, pick up the pallet and get it here.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of a company on the Island who does runs east to Calgary who could handle it?  My other option is to drive out and pick it up, but man, that's 3000 km and a weekend shot.  A parts brigade?  Anyone who can take it from the Island to Vancouver for me?  Couver to Calgary is easy.

Little help?

Thanks,
Keith

90% of all the trucking company's we use will charge 45.00 for home delivery as well as pick up but they will get.
do you work in a shop? mabey he can deliver it to a trucking company and they can ship to your work to save some money?

Have you tried Canadian Frieght out of Nanimo? I  think they  also have an office in Calgary.

I knew you guys were good for some help!  Cdn Freightways will do residential pickups/delivery for an extra fee, so its all good.  I was having a heck of a time finding anyone on this end who could handle a 300 lb pallet and pick it up at a residential location (without a forklift or loading dock).
