I'm in the market for an inexpensive Mig welder and saw a Deca 130Amp on sale for $269.99 at Princess Auto
Has anyone tried these and are they any good?(https://airspeedparts.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fprincessauto.com%2Fprodimages%2FCAN%2F8006219.gif&hash=212e2f95e0f2cd1ce3f34783ea182d3c27b004fe)

anyone alive?

you get what you pay for.
i've never heard of deca welders and i dont shop at princess auto.

A Lincon welder 115 goes for 725 to 950 and that is a fair deal so if a \"Deca\" is 269.00 I would say pass.
Save up it is well worth it!

Easy-to-find consumables?
Warranty?
Parts availability?
Gas compatable? If it isn't don't even waste your time or money.
A $269 welder is still a $269 welder. Like Silas said, you get what you pay for.

my friend in 100 mile had a deca but he paid more i think it was higher output anyways i was happy with it and it was gas compatible

This one isn't gas compatible :(
A Lincon welder 115 goes for 725 to 950
That's way out of my price range. I won't be doing enough welding to warrant spending that amount.

I used a deca for 3 years bofore i got a miller...it worked great...i would save for the convertable 135 though cuz the flux wire makes a mess..they r great for sheet metal but not much else 3/16 max w/ good prep work....parts are avaliable and the upgrade cost me 130 ..good luck

I've got that same Princess Auto POS Deca. For welding in replacement metal it works fine. The price of a bottle and regulator is more than the welder, but you can always keep those for when you upgrade down the road. It doesn't have a lot of settings for heat, and you'll never be able to weld anything real thick, but it's OK for the DIY. I just dream of the day I can afford a Millger TIG setup
