Title: Bearings Inside Rear Brakes On A 65 Beetle
Post by: vwshawn on March 20, 2005, 06:41:53 PM
Im trying to get out the bearings from the rear drum brakes,as I want to get my rear drums powder coated.
Can anyone give me a hand or tell me what I need to do to get these bearings out.
Thanks,
Shawn

rears? i'm pretty sure there are no bearing's in the rear drum they slide right on the splined axle.
unless you are talking about the bearing cap that holds the backing plate in place?

Hi Russ,

Shawn, here.
Thanks for your reply. What were you telling me the last time I saw you when I dropped off my parts for powdercoating? I forgot

Hi Russ,

  I forgot
Shawn
that makes two of us :D

the backs are fine just bring them to me,the fronts have the bearing's in them and will have to be removed prior to powdercoating them.

russ

to remove them there will be a seal inside the drum pry that out and the bearing should come right out
