Title: Gas Tank Vent Tube (how To Do?)
Post by: Russ on March 08, 2005, 07:33:11 AM
i would like to vent my gas tank like this on my project car but don't know where to start.
where can i buy fitting's to do this?
i assume one side would be flared and the other would fit into a fitting with another fitting tightening the two together :o  make sense??
any ideas throw them out there
thanks russ(https://airspeedparts.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fmembers.shaw.ca%2Fvw4me%2Ftank.jpg&hash=2a4d725ac2cb6462d2e9b72ed760957fc78dc6dd)

i think you got it figured out, some hard fuel line, and appropriate fittings, flare it and fire it out the bottom, looks good.

just so you know.
the brake flaring kits use a 45 deg flare.
and -an fittings use  a 37 deg flare.
there is a differance.
if anyone is stuck i have a 37 deg flaring tool so if anyone is making aluminum or steel fuel lines etc and is planning on using -an fittings i can help you out

Is extra venting needed on an early tank? Looks to me that with a full tank and a left turn you'd be dumping gas out the vent tube with that set up.
