Can someone shed some light on beetle converts? I'm looking at a 70, but the roof when fully down seems to sit quite high still. Don't even know if you could see over it through the rear view. I've had a 62 at one point, and it wasn't totally flat, but not bad. Anyone know the year separation as to when they changed roof designs. (Love the early fifties era where they're almost gone when down) Anyone know of a earlier convert for sale?
thanks

I've seen MANY convertible bugs with the top folded down incorrectly even one where the had a top cover made with the top up high like you describe. It is important & necessary the you \"pull back\" the big fold in the top when lowering to allow the mechanism to latch properly. Also the convertible mirror rotates up for top down driving and down for top up use. I don't think the tops changed (other than the latches) substantially until the some (or all?) of the wood was changed to steel in I believe 1971 (super beetle). Wayne
