Was this a car you had previously registered in BC?  If so, you don't have to do all that crap, just go in to any autoplan agent with your old BC registration and licence it as if it was sitting in your garage for the duration.  No customs, no inspection, no tax.
If you don't have your old BC registration, no problem.  Go in to your autoplan agent with the VIN and ask them to print you some new papers.  They charge $18 for this.

Thanks for the info Bruce, im learning more all the time. as far as i know it hasn't been previously registered in BC ie present and previous owners were US and then it was rescued from a farm but before that i don't know.  from what you are saying if i took in the vin no they might be able to tell me? and save me the hassles??

Deluxe thanks for the link i dont think it was the one  but it sounds good to me , so thanks for the effort

Just take to any autoplan agent and they should be able to tell you if it has or has not!
If it has not, You will need a V I inspection but you will be allowed to put the vehicale in your name with the ability to use a one day permant to travel to a shop for a VI

I just did this with my 59 single cab from Califonia. As long as you have the paperwork from the US.
If you do not have the US paper work you will either need to obtain it, or by using a lost vehicale check thru ICBC and a signed bill of sale you can Re-register it in B.C.
