What do they mean by \"Roller\" are the rods on roller bearings??

Meaning it will roll away from you if you put it down - hence full circle.....  B)

Yes, the rod bearings are actually needle bearings. Not shell type the we normally see. Look through the old \"How to Hot Rod VWs\" book for SPG roller cranks, and there are pictures. And an explanation why they are no longer used.
The Ebay picture looks like SPG brand roller crank. Doesn't say what stroke it is either.
