Title: Street Racing Carnage
Post by: Cameron on December 19, 2004, 03:04:14 PM
Keep an eye on the news tonight. As I was cycling home I passed a huge mess of smashed up cars, at East 38th and Main. The people that live in the neighbourhood said it was street racing, I did not witness any of the action. But when you see the cars, all stock, no hotrods, you'll know somebody was going excessively fast.  This was not your ordinary street racing fender bender either. This was the cars completely mangled, upside down and burning, kind of car wreck. Looked like six vehicles involved.  CTV news was there filming. Other networks were arriving, as I was leaving.

Cameron-phone? LOL
Sorry guys, I did not take my camera with me on Sunday. Usually I carry a small digital camera in my saddle bag, but not this last Sunday.
Anyway, as it turns out, the neighbours around the crash site got it wrong. The accident was not caused by street racing. It was (supposedly) caused by the driver of a big truck falling asleep at the wheel, and smashing into a bunch of cars. A mother and her two children were injured, I don't know how badly.
Asleep at the wheel, at 3 in the afternoon? Hmmm......
