Title: Think My 3rd And 4th Gears Are Closer

hey guys, i was just wondering with a stock vw beetle tranny at 80 km/h what is rpm at, in my car its at 2000rpm, but i thought in my previous beetles with stock trannys it was  100 kmh at 2000rpm. anyone know?

how tall are your tires
there could be a few different variations
the ring and pinion could be
4.375
4.125
3.88
 or the 4th gears could be .89 or .82 and i think there is another stock 4th as well

With a 3.88 r/p and .82 4th gear your engine speed at 80 kph with a 26\" tire, would be 2057 rpm.  to get down to 2000 rpm, your gearing or your tires would have to be taller.  I think your 100 kph @ 2000 rpm may be dreaming.  B)

if you had  close ratio gears, you would know it
mainly because your ears would ring for about an hour after you got off the freeway :D
