Title: Aircare Program

Hey Gang!
Looks like AirCare will be with us for a while yet.

Aircare program being examined
November 13
VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980)--A review of Aircare concludes it's still needed on the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, albeit in a substantially revised form.

You may have to live with some type of Aircare program until at least the summer of 2011.

The next step is figuring out what form the emissions inspection and maintenance program should take.

A report, involving several groups including the Province, the GVRD, the FVRD and Translink finds Aircare has reduced air pollution, and is identified as one of the most significant emission reduction measures around.

The review concludes it's too soon to completely pull the plug on the program, and a redesigned version is of use.

The current Aircare program is set to end in September of 2006.

A final decision is expected next spring or summer.

The government will never axe the aircare program, to much revenue is at stake. We will always have a yearly emmisions test, forever.

You know what's stupid - they made it \"easier\" on newer vehicle owners 97-up. Instead of 23 a year you pay 47 every 2 years - why are newer vehicles a dollar more?????

AirCare is in the news again.

If newer vehicles emit less emissions, and newer vehicles have self diagnosing emissions equipment, then why do we need AirCare?
