I'd say an hour for your first time is pretty good, after you do it a few times you'll get way faster, you could pull it in 15 minutes. That is if you got some one else to guide the motor up and down.i think the first time i did it with my dad, took us about an hour as well, maybe a bit longer, cause it was hung up on the tranny, and we couldnt get it loose.

1 Minute, 37 seconds from one beetle to another, and driven 15 feet.

Geoff and I pulled, rebuilt and installed the engine in the Airspeed bus in a day and he drove it home that night!!

I've had the same damn engine in and out of the same damn car 3 times in an 8 hour shift before  [_[

just like the engine pull competition at the old bug-ins. i think that should be added to the gcvws festivities. 2 or 3 teams. see who can do it the fastest.

those german guys w/ the guiness record were cheating. the cars were in the air to start with. ;)

My wife and I had it down to an art in the fastback I owned years ago, engine/tranny combo out, new tranny bolted on and back in car running in less than an hour. A van motor is easier to pull IMO, with the removable apron and all...

i did my engine out in 30 mins second try and by my self i thought it was pretty good in i feel would be the hardest part of it all
it is 10 bolts and 4 screws if you keep the bumper on which could get in teh way for some peeps. This is on an up right though. there should be and engine swap at the gcvws

I'd say early buses are harder , don't like reaching the top engine bolt behind the fan shroud .  But then late type 4  buses are even harder .

One more vote for an engine pull contest at great Canadian
