Title: Bus Cv - Beetle Axle- Bus Cv
Post by: watercooled on September 16, 2004, 08:41:21 PM
I have heard of guys running drag cars with Bus CV-Beetle axle-Bus CV but I don't know for sure if it is a solid way to go?  Is there anyone who machines stock Beetle axles so they will fit bus CV's including the snap ring on the end? Hans if your out there help me out.

Thanks Watercooled

I have been running that combo in my 1959 beetle since 1995 with no problems and it has seen many years of racing (i run without the clips as there is no way for the CV's to move when in the stock or lowered position.

If it's off road use with some height and long travel, machine a grove for the clip.

Geoff, did you install the dished washer before the CV?

I've \"heard\" if you leave out the dished washer you can install the clip on the outside.

Abby Country (Dave) mentioned that for off road applications the CV will bind when suspension is at it's full travel with the snap ring.  So if you make sure that the axle doesn't pull out more than 2/3rds when at full travel you should be alright.   :mullet:
