Title: gas pedal removal on a split bus
Post by: Alp on March 06, 2017, 01:50:22 PM
do you just tap out the pin to remove the gas pedal?  I read on the Samba that there maybe be some retaining piece but the posts where not clear on the description.  Thanks

The pin should have a depression in the middle the end of the spring sits in, lift the body end of the spring to remove the pin.
Of course if rust is involved YMMV.

Is it the same kind of spring set up that is at the bottom of the linkage arm/throttle cable apparatus?  Thanks

No, it should be a flat leaf, or maybe a mousetrap style one, not sure when they changed or if they are all the same and some with the moustrap style I've seen are hacks. Also some aftermarket repair kits come with E clips for the ends of the pivot pin.
