Title: Ok, I miss CIP
Post by: bwaz on April 13, 2016, 02:47:36 PM
Needed a couple of gaskets and valve cover gaskets, knowing CIP was still in the move, ordered them from the B** Dep**. Ordered Monday night, hoping they'd ship Tuesday. Emailed Wednesday, told they'd get processed and shipped Thursday. C'mon CIP, get done! ;)

What about Lordco.  I know they have v/c gaskets.  They are an ATE and Bosch dealer.  Concept 1 as well and only 5% tax.  Along with AVR there is no need to be going south and being hammered by the exchange rate.

I was so spoiled.   I lived approx 7 minutes away from them (12 minutes if I drove my bus) and it was so nice to order and just drive over and pick my stuff up.   It was even kinda fun.

i've said it to Steve before, they need to pick one night a week, or saturday morning 9 til noon for pickups, at least over the summer when people need stuff. Banker hours don't work when fixing up your project nights and weekends.

Do you think CIP really cares about the local Canadian folks that gave them their start back in the 80's?

If they did they would find a way to remove the shipping costs for local pickup. And they wouldn't be currently charging us 40%  more than the US site when the us/cdn dollar is  at 28%.  Yes I know it fluctuates but when our $ was worth more than the US$, we were still being penalized.

It exists.  I haven't done an order lately to tell you how to do it.  Perhaps someone here will tell you how to set it to local pickup without shipping on the checkout.  If not, call them.

I know with thousands of items, it's tough to keep track on exchange, and what the other guy on the next website is charging for the same item. Once I ordered a few large pieces that were about 25% cheaper (even after shipping and exchange) for me to send them to Blaine. They called to say I should be shipping to Canada. I said thanks, please ship it to the U.S. I think it saved me about $100.

The local pickup only has an effect on orders under $99.  Anything over $99. that has free shipping has no shipping discount when local pickup is selected.  So when they have a sale with a discount that only applies on orders over $99 or $125, whatever it is, the local pickup gets you no break on shipping.

So you might save 10-15 % when an item is on sale but that is on a Canadian dollar that CIP undervalues with respect to the current US dollar exchange rate.  So do you actually save anything with the sale?  Do the math!!

Free shipping may be great for USA customers and those Canadians outside of the lower mainland.  So I need to have my order shipped to the US to save?  Right.  Back to my original point.  What are they doing for the folks here in the lower mainland that gave them their start?

Perhaps the mists of time have clouded their memory !!

I just had them call me since I'm getting a long block purchased from them sent to Blaine(Its nearly 1000 bucks cheaper without taxes). Jill had no issue since she put two and two together. After reading this I was ready for a battle but nope its getting shipped.

So Brian / Kirin,
I've ordered thousands of dollars in parts from CIP over the years and yes, its getting old to see the price disparity between the .ca & .com. Are you guys just ordering on-line from CIP.COM vs .CA and shipping to a Blaine P.O. Box?

I just checked each site for a few items I need and there $50 cheaper from .COM after exchange!!!

Thanks,
