So why, (as we're all expected to pay our fair share for the construction) are Taxi's exempt from tolls on the Golden Ears and Port Mann? Other businesses aren't exempt... (other than large commercial vehicles who get a 50% discount traveling between 9pm and 5am.)

some more on tolls

A toll for every crossing....makes zero sense. Increase the amount of TREO employees to collect tolls, another make work project. Charge everyone who drives $25 on annual insurance to pay for the pleasure of the roads, dump Treo and the hi-tech gear required to monitor drivers, and send them bills.

The Province of BC is already making plans to charge a mileage tax to electric cars, because they don't pay road taxes at the gas pump. As more and more electric cars come on to the road, the province will receive less taxes. One method they were talking about, was GPS transponders to track mileage. There were others method mentioned as well, like license plate cameras, odometer inspection, etc.

$25? Give it a little thought. My small company by itself pays about $400-$500 a month for tolls on one bridge. And most of our business doesn't involve the bridge. People commuting daily would pay about $120.00 a month. Semi trucks pay $9 for one crossing. You better up that to a few hundred a year. I do agree about getting rid of Treo. Money sucker.

yes, but if every driver in the province paid $25? The people in Kelowna would yell, but they've already got their new bridge! (without tolls)

Wasn't Kelowna where Crusty Clarke ran.......funny how that works....
