Title: Help! 67 Split wood headliner installation! Anyone have and info!
Post by: Das Bus on February 14, 2016, 04:32:26 PM
Help! 67 Split wood headliner installation!  This is a pain in the ass! how is this done. Any info, pic's, dimensions and tips would be of great help. It seems to not want to fit into the channel, or once in, stay and ridiculous to get in place. the style in this picture is what I'm trying to fit.

Been having fun myself. Few good links on thesamba, and I also found some by googling
I set one side in jchannel and drooped in center, lined up other edge with j channel, then popped it up into place.

You are using 3mm baltic birch, right?

When I did the camper interior of my 63 kombi a very long time ago, I used the baltic birch and just screwed it to the edges of the upper rail.  No J channel.  Pushed it up into place, measured it, cut it and held it up in place with 2x4 posts tight to the ceiling.  4 sections. One either side of the vent and 2 rear.

The J channel would be much easier.  I may do that in my current bus if I get the courage to remove the original vinyl headliner.

There is a ton of info on the samba.  Just look for it.
