I see James brought friends to help him with his smack talk. Nothing was really settled before Fester. So I really hope you show up this time next weekend.

Post by: James Buchan on August 04, 2004, 02:48:14 PM
Nothing....settled....um ok mister mid 14.... your car better have a 13 second pass in it, cause mine sure does.

Better take your FULL interior, bumpers, roof, lids, fenders and whatever else you can remove to lighten up that tank!

Whats with all the fuss James? Im just asking because you have said before you were going to be somewhere more than once and it never happened. ;) Dejavu? ;) Anyways, from what I understand is that your car is not a proven 13sec car either. Be careful not to wake the sleeping giant.

Gaint as in overweight? If thats the case no worries - definatly don't have to worry about the driver.....

No worries for you, I'm sure you'll be happy to just get in the low 14's like I ALREADY have.

Title: Why Are Green Ghia's Slow?
Post by: red snapper on August 04, 2004, 03:57:07 PM
I \"already\" have seen low 14s. It only took me 3 tries.
Title: Why Are Green Ghia's Slow?
Post by: James Buchan on August 04, 2004, 04:02:40 PM
14.3 isn't low - that's more like mid

3 tries that day and how many since.....
Title: Why Are Green Ghia's Slow?
Post by: red snapper on August 05, 2004, 07:02:16 AM
14.3s are not low 14s? What do you consider high 14s? I may be wrong but anything under 14.5 is considered low. Anybody else?
Title: Why Are Green Ghia's Slow?
Post by: Chris on August 05, 2004, 07:42:10 AM
if we want to split hairs i would have to say that

14.0 - 14.333 would be low

14.334 - 14.666 would be mids

14.667 - 14.999 would be highs

I say you both get on a mighty 45 and race the 1/4 mile and who ever wins, wins. End of your little gripe. You hug and make up.

Either that or race for pink slips!

But a tank is a tank, right ?!

 :P

james and brian, line up at mission raceway on the 13th, side by side, whatever happens happens.

That will settle everything :P

if you spin the tires through first, don't get traction, miss a shift, etc... its once or nothing

just my 2 cents

but it sure it entertaining to read these posts

Gotta have some hype for the night! Seeing as there won't be any 10 second passes happening....in an aircooled anyways.

Brian and I have built up to this for over a year, it will be good to officially (as my beating his best time of 14.339 @ 94mph by an easy .2 seconds wasn't enough) finalize this thing.

So lets get back to the question that this post asked, Why Are Green Ghia's Slow?

I don't understand???  is the paint heavier or something? or maybe less aerodynamic(orange peel)? too much bondo?

Or is it that all the exaust is coming from they're mouths not they're tail pipes!!!

So is this purely for braggs' or is there something more valuable up for grabs...
other than a bottle of liquor???

Title: Why Are Green Ghia's Slow?
Post by: James Buchan on August 06, 2004, 10:39:21 AM
I'll fill you in Mike - Last year prior to the GCVW I started the smack talk with Brian and wasn't able to complete my car for the race - the bet was for a case of beer (he chose BUD, which is really a near-beer, not a real beer) as I didn't make the race.

Fast forward to this year and to date his best time is a 14.3 and mine is a 14.1, so theoretically I am faster on paper but we still need to go head to head for all the marbles to lay this all to rest and so I can get my case of beer back (Corona and don't forget the lime Brian) There was literally hundreds of posts about this match up last year, just getting it rekindled :)

So really this posts intention was to throw the gauntlet down, and get things started - Brian gets really nervous to the point of peeing himself when he see's my car so I wanted to savour that feeling at work while he reads this.

HA! Peeing myself. Only because Im laughing so hard and I just cant controll myself(they say age has to do with it too). Anyways I have been working on this thing for weeks now. Our cars were pretty close and I know James has a new tranny. But I have found quite a bit more power out of the ghia. I know \"Mr. Super Shifter\" (aka=James) like to toot his horn any chance he gets. Youll be getting from me this year the same as you got last year. Later boys/girls&James. :P
