Title: Will 59 beetle ragtop fit in 57 ragtop hole?

I have a 1959 beetle sliding ragtop complete roof with mechanism complete.  Will this mechanism work in a 1957 oval factory ragtop roof (looking to buy a 57 oval ragtop that's missing the assembly.  Thanks
